The Hunt
September 22,
2012
We learned that the Feast of Trumpets celebrates the return of Jesus as a conquering hero. Soon we will observe the Day of Atonement and this commemorates the exile of Satan. I have often wondered what will occur in real time between these future events, and to me the hunt for all that is evil will be on.
Revelation 19:19-21
And I saw the beast, and the
kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him
that sat on the horse, and against his army. And the beast was taken, and
with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he
deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped
his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with
brimstone. And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon
the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and
all the fowls were filled with their flesh.
Even though all evil comes from Satan, when Jesus returns, he first eliminates those who oppose him, the Beast, the False Prophet, and their army. Ironically, the verses in Revelation show that evil was hunting good, and good triumphed. The time between the return of Jesus and the exile of Satan will be spent ridding the world of all evil. The theme of good triumphing over evil culminates in the Day of Atonement when Satan is exiled, and prior to that glorious event are examples we can read in the Bible.
Matthew 24:4-13
And Jesus answered and said unto
them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name,
saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and
rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end
is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against
kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers
places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye
shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. And then shall many be
offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And
many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because
iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall
endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
We know from Jesus that immediately before his return, the love of many will grow cold because lawlessness abounds. What may not be apparent in these verses is the evil origin of this future reality. All we need to remember is that all evil originates with Satan. Lack of love is an evil, and like all evils, this too will be rooted out by Jesus at his return as the world is returned to peace and love.
Proverbs 16:17
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that
keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
There was a popular television show, Highway to Heaven. The highway of the upright is to depart from evil, and the way we depart evil is to find all that is evil in our lives so that we with the help of Jesus may overcome it. One day, Jesus will exile Satan after hunting all evil. For now, we must rely on Jesus as we overcome evil with good.
All verses are from the King James Version.
