Security

The Olympics are well underway in London, and security is always a major concern for major public events. Terrorism, lone individuals plotting evil, and random acts of mass violence, along with all routine times of crime are all concerns. The best we can do as a society is to spend millions of dollars on security. For the Olympics, Great Britain returned soldiers stationed in foreign countries to help with this responsibility. This is on top of the private security firm, local and national law enforcement, and a sophisticated network to monitor behavior in public. Considering God, and the need for security and public safety, it brings to mind what is written about this topic in the Bible, and what is recorded for us is a future time when people will be told in advance what is right and what is wrong.
Isaiah 30:20-21
And
though the Lord give you the bread of
adversity, and the water of
affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any
more, but
thine eyes shall see thy teachers: And thine ears shall hear a word
behind
thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye
turn to the right
hand, and when ye turn to the left.
What these verses show is that at a future time, God is going to interdict behaviors before they become problematic. It seems in the modern era, God is pretty hands-off in what is happening on earth. Sometimes you answer a fool according to their folly, and sometimes you answer a fool not according to their folly. It seems like God is allowing the evils of this world to become easy to see, and at a future time, it will be as easy to see the good that exists in doing things God's way. At some future time, things will be so bad, we really will want people directly looking out for us. The Bible shows that things will get worse before it gets better, and evil that is seen today will become worse.
Matthew 24:21-22
For then
shall be great
tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this
time, no,
nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened,
there should no
flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Things will get so bad because of the evil on this planet that life as we know it will be threatened. Because other scriptures write about battles and conflicts, this threat will likely come from some type of warfare and at this current moment in time, this would limit options to nuclear or biological warfare. But even in this verse, God indicates he will protect those who are his. Exactly how God might do this is indicated in the Book of Revelation.
Revelation 9:1-4
And
the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the
earth: and
to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened
the bottomless pit; and there
arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the
sun and
the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. And
there came out of the smoke locusts upon
the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth
have
power. And it was commanded them that
they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing,
neither
any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their
foreheads.
Without using any type of technology, God is going to know who his people are through this seal on the forehead. Science has shown that the forehead is where executive functioning takes place, where we individually and purposefully choose to act. Those who choose to obey God are his children, and will be protected from this future evil time. The greatest security we can have in the long term is not to rely on man. Man might help with security in the short-term. It is God who will help with security in the long-term.
All verses are from the King James Version.
