The Truth
April
14, 2012
Intoday's media-driven world it is hard to tell reality from fiction and the truth from a lie. The Feast of Unleavened Bread, also called the Days of Passover, shows us the need to be pure in our heart, and purity of heart centers around a true application of the truth. A false application of the truth is what we might expect from Satan and a good example of this is the serpent from the Garden of Eden. What was told Eve might have been true under certain circumstances, but not in the circumstances Eve was facing. It is possible to relate the truth in a false way, and this is the art of deceit. There is nothing to be proud of when we deceive another person as we misrepresent the truth. It is only when we are true to the truth, that we are pure, and the degree to which we are pure or deceitful becomes well-known even from childhood.
Proverbs 20:11
Even
a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and
whether it be right.
Other examples exist in the Bible that point us to what is the truth. a very famous verse that identifies the truth is found in the gospels.
John 17:17
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
We know that the truth is what sanctifies us, and sanctifying means to set apart as holy, so the truth of God, his word, makes us holy. So why would it be important to know what is true and what is a deceit? Could it be possible that just like in the Garden of Eden thousands of years ago that in today's world there are those who claim to know what God thinks and that their motives may be less than pure? Could it be that there are people who really want to deceive others for whatever reasons makes sense just to them? The answer is yes. And this is why it is important to read the Bible for yourself. If you can't afford a Bible, you can probably access one online or through an app and have this at little to no cost. It is only by reading the Bible that you can really know for sure if others are telling the truth or are trying to be deceitful. You have to read the Bibleyourself and ask God to guide you in your understanding.
Colossians
2:1-12
And
this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I
with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the
stedfastness
of your faith in Christ. As ye have
therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye
in him: Rooted and
built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught,
abounding
therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through
philosophy and
vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the
world, and
not after Christ. For in him dwelleth
all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And
ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and
power: In
whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands,
in
putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of
Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye
are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath
raised
him from the dead.
What deceit will others use on us? They will use philosophy, human reasoning, that which seems right to a man, something that appears to support the needs of the earth. Always consider all that is told you in light of Christ as it is through Jesus that we are saved. There is no man that can save us, we are saved by Jesus.
All verses are from the King James Version.
