Jesus and His Message on the Last Great Day of the Feast
October 16, 2014
A week ago, we celebrated the start of the Feast of Tabernacles and with each year, the week went quickly. It was on this day during the Feast of Tabernacles that Jesus gave a message of living waters. Today, on the Last Great Day of the Feast of Tabernacles, we will look at that message and related scriptures.
John 7:37-39
In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.
The river of living waters is echoed in the book of Revelation when the description of New Jerusalem is given. These waters flow from the throne of God and Jesus and nourish the tree of life that is for the healing of the nations.
Revelation 22:1-5
And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
Once God and Jesus are reigning on earth from New Jerusalem it will be a time of a new heaven and a new earth. All that is evil that frustrates us and robs us of peace and joy will cease to exist. This future time of the New Jerusalem will be a time of joy, and the evil that we have today will no longer be remembered.
Isaiah 65:17-25
For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. But be ye glad and rejoice forever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed. And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them. And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.
Somebody once said that evil triumphs because good people do nothing. The Bible shows that in the end God, Jesus, and the faithful will triumph over evil. Goodness will prevail and evil will cease to exist.
