John Sees the Seven Golden Vials
January 24, 2015

Last week our study continued when John saw one hundred forty-four thousand. This week John sees a vision of the seven golden vials.

Revelation 15:1-2
And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God. And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.

In this vision, seven angels hold the seven last plagues that are the wrath of God. These angels are standing on a sea of glass that also has fire and with these angels are those who earn victory over the beast, the image of the beast, and the number of the beast's name. Those who are victorious, instead of being armed with weapons are armed with harps.

Revelation 15:3-4
And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

They sing the song of Moses acknowledging that God is great having incredible works. They affirm that God is just and true, and that He is the King of those who are saved. They understand that judgment is at hand and that all will worship God.

Revelation 15:5-8
And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened: And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles. And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever. And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.

It is at this time in the vision that John sees that the tabernacle of heaven is opened, and from this heavenly tabernacle emerge the seven angels who have the seven plagues. The plagues are in the vials given to the angels by one of the four beasts, and the punishment is so intense that it fills the tabernacle of heaven with smoke and no one is able to enter.
