Last Great Day
October 12, 2017
A week ago was the start of the Feast of Tabernacles, a festival that for apostolic first-century Christians looks forward to the Kingdom of God. Today is the last Great Day, the culmination of the holy days that shows God living with men in a world totally at peace. It was on this day that Jesus stood up in the temple and spoke of living waters.
John 7: 37-39
In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.
The living waters that Jesus spoke of is the Holy Spirit, and the living waters will one day be part of the New Jerusalem. These waters will flow from the throne of God and on each side of this river of water of life will be the tree of life, a tree that contously bares fruit. No more will there be the curse from the Garden of Eden. Satan will be exiled and evil will no longer exist. Only th light of the truth, of the love of the way of God will exist. The world as we know it will no longer exist, a world living in peace fully conforming to the love that is the law of God will be the only world that is known.
Revelation 22:1-5
And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
All that we do as Christians focuses on this future time of incredible peace. The Bible, and the churches that teach God's word exist to proclaim this message of this future time as people like you and me grow in the grace of Jesus Christ. We live a life aware of the prophecies of the Great Tribulation and the knowledge of how evil man can be. We also live with the awareness of God and Jesus in our life; the power of the Holy Spirit, and the incredible hope we have in this future time a time of peace, a time of love, a time when God will dwell with mankind.
Revelation 22: 16-21
I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
We echo the words of John and we so want Jesus to return as we want the grace of Jesus Christ to be bestowed on all who respond to His calling.
All verses are from the King James Version.
