The Feast of Trumpets
September 21, 2017
Today through sunset is the Feast of Trumpets, a Holy Day that varies from September to October. For those who observe, the Feast of Trumpets is another informal marker of the start of autumn, much like Labor Day is in the United States. The Feast of Trumpets marks the beginning of the fall Holy Days, and with these fall Holy Days we begin the process of looking forward into prophecy rather than backwards into history for the fulfillment of these days. On a timeline, the Great Tribulation would precede the Feast of Trumpets.
Matthew 24:29-31
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
It is immediately after the Great Tribulation that there are both a solar and lunar eclipse. This happens during a time of a meteor shower. These events will cause many to lose their faith. It is then that Jesus returns at the time of the sound of a trumpet to gather his elect from throughout the earth.
1 Corinthians 15:50-54
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
The Apostle Paul reminds us that it is at the last trumpet that the dead in Christ are resurrected to immortality as those who are alive in Christ will be changed into spirit and become immortal.
Revelation 19:11-16
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
When Jesus returns, it is not only to resurrect the dead in Christ and to change to spirit the living in Christ, but to return as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and it is during this time that we will be with Jesus.
The Feast of Trumpets marks the return of Jesus Christ as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and the future resurrection of those who have died in Christ. It also marks the time when those who are of Christ will be changed to Spirit.
All verses are from the King James Version.
