God is not the Author of Confusion
December 24, 2022
If you have been looking around your neighborhood and where you shop, you have probably seen many people preparing to celebrate Christmas, with these people never fully understanding that how they celebrate Christmas is in many ways linked to pre-Christian practices. Those who are aware of that detail sometimes celebrate it as Christianizing pagan practices and others simply willingly overlook the detail seeing it as no big matter. Within the Church of God we don’t observe the holiday instead celebrating the Holy Days found within the Bible.
When most read the account of the birth of Jesus and then apply what they have read to Christmas, it’s not that different than a police detective who investigates a case from a pre-determined conclusion. Sadly, that has happened and innocent people have been incarcerated in the name of justice. It’s different when police follow the evidence to the conclusion, and when police become confused about how they investigate a case, the truth may not come to light. Most today presume that the celebrations of Christmas are solely based on the birth of Jesus because they celebrate from a pre-determined conclusion not looking at what is in the Bible and history.
Beyond Christmas and the Holy Days is the Sabbath, which we know falls from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday, and yet most who call themselves Christians attend church on Sunday. When it comes to understanding God, Jesus Christ, and what is expected of us, there is much confusion in the world today, even among those who call themselves Christians. There is so much confusion it is like we live in a world of chaos, and that world of chaos is by design. Today, we will find out where chaos comes from and what is expected of us. First, we know that it is Satan who deceives the entire world. The chaos and confusion that we see is of and by Satan.
Revelation 12:9
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Paul clearly stated in writing to the Corinthians that God is not the author of confusion, but of peace. In Paul’s words, that would make peace the opposite of confusion. If you have ever gone from the hustle and bustle of the city to a remote spot where all you can hear is the wind or the waves, you can understand the peace that Paul is writing about, a calmness where predictability and order are the status quo.
1 Corinthians 14:26-33
How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
If anything be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
If God is not the author of confusion and is instead the author of peace, then who is the author of confusion and the enemy of peace? The Greek word for confusion is akatastasia, Strong’s Greek word 181 and it means confusion, commotion, instability, disorder, tumult. We know God is not the author of confusion, and that would also mean God is not the author of commotion, instability, disorder, or tumult. Yet, we see commotion, instability, disorder, and tumult in the world today. Our conclusion from the Bible is that these do not come from God. Jesus spoke of the commotions we would see.
Luke 21:7-9
And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?
And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.
What we see in the world around us, the trifecta of COVID, FLU, and RSV, supply chain issues, the chaos with the weather, political strife, and inflation are all part of the confusion of our life. Add to that desires to be something on social media and we have people who have a hard time making sense of life. The confusion that we have today is just the beginning and is spun by the author of confusion. James gives us hints as to who the author of confusion is, linking confusion to envy and strife which he links as being earthly, sensual, and devilish and not being part of God in any way. James also contrasts confusion to peace, linking peace to purity, gentleness, not demanding, being merciful to others while living as God would expect us, not being a hypocrite while treating all people fairly.
James 3:13-18
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
Because we live in world that hasn’t committed to the idea that God is not the author of confusion, commotion, instability, disorder, or tumult, it should not come as a surprise to us when we come face to face with these as we live here on earth. Paul who wrote that God is not the author of confusion, but of peace also shared with the Corinthians how he and we can suffer in our calling, and suffering in tumults was specifically mentioned by Paul.
2 Corinthians 6:3-10
Giving no offence in anything, that the ministry be not blamed:
But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,
In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;
By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,
By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,
By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true;
As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;
As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
Let’s go back to the beginning of the universe as recorded in the Bible when God created the heaven and the earth, when in the very next verse the earth is described as being without form. The Hebrew word is tohuw, Strong’s Hebrew word 8414 which broadly means confusion.
Genesis 1:1-2
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
If God is not the author of confusion as Paul wrote to the Corinthians, how could God create a confused world? That’s the base of the argument by so many who blame God for the evils in the world today, never considering the evils of the world today do not come from God. The Bible doesn’t tell us that God created a confused world, it tells us that God created the heaven and earth and that God is not the author of confusion. The confusion of being without form in verse two could not have been of and by God. From what we read in James, we know Satan is the cause of this, and most of us know the back story behind Satan’s rebellion along with a third of the angels who became demons. When the earth was without form in a confused state, that speaks to Satan and the demons. The evil that we see in the world today is not the torture of a cruel God as some would believe. Evil and confusion and chaos that comes with it is the result of Satan and the demons. Isaiah gives us a snippet into this telling us that because of the sins of people, the earth is defiled. Oddly today, people focus on climate change and crazy weather without focusing on sin. It’s like there is a lack of connection between the two. Isaiah paints a dark picture of the result of confusion which leads to a place without joy and happiness. Being joyful and happy is a state of mind and we live in a time where there is not enough joy and happiness. Dissatisfaction with life is becoming the norm as we live in cities and lands of confusion.
Isaiah 24:5-13
The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.
Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.
The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh.
The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.
They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.
The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in.
There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.
In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.
When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done.
When people do not understand that God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, and then reject what God expects from them, living in cities and lands of confusion begin to take its toll. Even those who are called who do what God expects live in those cities and lands, understanding what they see is not the work of God but of Satan and the demons as an act of evil. Confusion reigns supreme to the point where even concepts of faith not aligned to God become confused. Isaiah shows that religion and concepts of faith are subject to the sway of Satan when God is not the focus, showing that this type of religion and faith leads to nothing as it exists in confusion.
Isaiah 41:25-29
I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon mortar, and as the potter treadeth clay.
Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.
The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.
For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.
Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion.
When Isaiah writes to the isles that strength has been spent for nought, Isaiah was writing using the word tohuw. Working hard for nothing is a type of confusion that Satan hoists on this world. How many people are so busy earning money that they cannot enjoy the money they have earned or find time to love the people in their lives? We must find our strength in God and make sure what we do is aligned with God.
Isaiah 49:1-6
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The Lord hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.
And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me;
And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.
Then I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the Lord, and my work with my God.
And now, saith the Lord that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the Lord, and my God shall be my strength.
And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.
When Samuel warned the Israelites to not turn aside from God because they would then go after vain things, in the Hebrew, Samuel told them they would pursue tohuw, or confusion.
1 Samuel 12:20-22
And Samuel said unto the people, Fear not: ye have done all this wickedness: yet turn not aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart;
And turn ye not aside: for then should ye go after vain things, which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain.
For the Lord will not forsake his people for his great name's sake: because it hath pleased the Lord to make you his people.
Isaiah clues us in on why God created the heavens and earth, telling us God did not create it in tohuw, but to be inhabited. Think of the most desolate place you have ever visited. God even intended for that place to be inhabited. Having beautiful wilderness parks is a spectacular reminder of the majesty of God, and when we see it harder and harder for people to live and build homes and places to work because people worship the creation more than the creator, that speaks to the influence of Satan.
Isaiah 45:18-19
For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else.
I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the Lord speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.
National pride can be a source of confusion. I’m proud to live in the United States of America and fully expect people who live in other countries to feel the same about where they live. We need to remember that with God, all nations are tohuw, or confusion and vanity.
Isaiah 40:12-17
Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counsellor hath taught him?
With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?
Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.
And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.
All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.
Political leaders who do not know God, may have been placed there by God but are nothing before God as they are part of the cycle of confusion.
Isaiah 40:21-23
Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?
It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.
Those who do not know God and proclaim faith are confused. Isaiah wrote that those who make a graven image are of vanity, of tohuw. They are confused because they worship something which can’t help them.
Isaiah 44:9-11
They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.
Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing?
Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together.
Isaiah writes that instead of seeking God and the truth, people trust in the confusion and will say and do anything to maintain the status quo. We cannot trust in vanity, tohuw, or confusion. We must trust in God.
Isaiah 59:1-4
Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.
None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
For those who are called, we know that God brings His people out of confusion. In Deuteronomy, when it is written that God found his people in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness, the word for waste in Hebrew is tohuw. God can and will bring His people out of confusion.
Deuteronomy 32:9-14
For the Lord's portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.
He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.
As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:
So the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.
He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;
Butter of kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and thou didst drink the pure blood of the grape.
When people reject or forget about God, they choose to be aligned to the ideals of confusion. Instead of praising God for His goodness and having God turn the wilderness into a place of abundance, when God is rejected or forgotten, the people choose to live in the wilderness. In the Book of Psalms when God pours contempt on leaders who reject and forget about God by doing what God does not intend, He causes them to wander in the wilderness, and the wilderness in Hebrew is tohuw. Rejecting and forgetting God results in the confusion by Satan.
Psalm 107:31-43
Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground;
A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.
He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings.
And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation;
And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.
He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease.
Again, they are minished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.
He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way.
Yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock.
The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.
Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the Lord.
Peter advises us that we need to humble ourselves under God realizing the omnipotence and majesty of God because Satan our adversary seeks whom he may devour. We resist Satan steadfast in the faith, meaning we do not reject or forget about God in our life knowing that while we may live in a world directed by confusion today, we are called to live in a world that will be of peace.
1 Peter 5:6-10
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
Timothy was reminded by Paul to avoid becoming tangled with the affairs of this life. We cannot remove ourselves from the world in which we live, but we are warned to not allow the world to restrain us, our faith, and our relationship with God. Because we live a life out of step with the confusion of this world, we will endure hardship, but that hardship will lead to our place in the Kingdom of God.
2 Timothy 2:1-7
Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.
Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
We know we will suffer persecution with evil becoming worse and worse. Confusion will magnify in our world as fewer people are people of faith. We need to stay grounded in what is in the Bible knowing that what is written will spiritually benefit us.
2 Timothy 3:12-17
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
Knowing that God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, it should come as no surprise to us that God gives us His Holy Spirit as a comforter, and a source of peace. Jesus spoke of this with his disciples.
John 14:19-27
Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
We should never doubt what God can do in our lives. Living in a world of confusion we should not doubt that God is the author of peace Who will bring peace to each of us through the Holy Spirit. When we are told that with God all things are possible and we look around and see the world we live in with all of its chaos and confusion, we must continue to have faith that God will bring us the peace promised to us.
Matthew 19:23-26
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
It is with the understanding that even though we live in a world of chaos and confusion, we have our Father in heaven Who will protect us, for Whom all things are possible, that we have confidence knowing that whatever we ask of God, He will do more.
Ephesians 3:14-21
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
We can take comfort that God will confound all who work against us, just as God promised the descendants of Israel. Those who work to bring us shame will have shame brought upon them; those who seek our destruction will find their own. Even though we live in a world of chaos and confusion, we have nothing to fear because as long as we are with God, God will be with us.
Isaiah 41:8-13
But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.
Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.
Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.
For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
Unlike the god with a small “g” of confusion, our God is the God of peace, and if you remember earlier, peace is the opposite of confusion. Where Satan and the demons seeks chaos and confusion, God the Father seeks peace and it is with that comfort that we know we can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens us.
Philippians 4:8-13
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: everywhere and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
We have nothing to fear, and nothing to alarm us. We know with fullest confidence that if God is for us, nobody can be against us. That is the peace that God brings to us. The doubt and worry that so many have are fed by thoughts of chaos and confusion finding a foothold in their life, and God will bring us peace. Nothing will separate us from the love of God which is through Jesus Christ.
Romans 8:31-39
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Confusion and chaos seem to be all the rage with the world today and that all stems from Satan the devil who deceives the whole world, even deceiving many who claim to be Christians. That chaos and confusion is not a mistake, it is part of Satan’s attempt to keep people away from Salvation. We have been called by our Father in Heaven, and through God we know peace and reject confusion as the God of peace is for us protecting us from evil that results from chaos and confusion. God is not the author of confusion. Satan is the author of confusion to bring the most harm to the most number of people. We keep the faith in in so doing protect ourselves from Satan.
