Living Without Fear
March 9, 2024

How is life where you live? Are things getting better or worse? Do you feel where you live is safer or more dangerous? Do you find yourself buying more or less for the same amount of money when you shop for groceries? Do you have more or less disposable income to meet your family’s financial needs? Does it seem like the weather is stabilizing or becoming more unpredictable? Looking to global events, does it seem like we are moving towards a time of peace and abundance or a time of war and scarcity? Do the technological advances we see give us hope of a brighter future or do we sense something sinister lurking under the surface? Wherever we live, whatever we see, and whatever we feel makes a huge part of our life. Looking around and seeing things that give us reason to have doubt or sensing that even though things on the surface seem alright something is deeply wrong can cause each of us to sense a broad sense of emotions, and for some of us, the emotion we experience is something akin to fear.

Having God’s Holy Spirit, we are not called to a life of fear, neither are we called to a life where each day we are tempting God to prove we are with God. When Jesus was tempted by Satan after fasting for forty days and forty nights, Satan tried to get Jesus to jump from the roof of the temple to prove He was the Son of God. Jesus didn’t take that challenge, and neither are we to take those kinds of challenges. With confidence, I can say we are to be living our lives without fear. Let’s consider Paul who was taken to Rome as a prisoner when he appealed to Caesar. Today, that would be like going before the highest court in the country in which you live to have your fate determined. In Paul’s case, he was allowed to live under house arrest and was watched by one soldier.

Even under house arrest where the testimony of the soldier could be used against him, Paul kept a typical schedule. He continued to debate with the chief of the Jews, something which had gotten him into legal trouble during his missionary trips. Paul could have avoided these people as they could have received inflammatory information from the Jews in Judea about him. Paul found out they had in fact had received no such information and were eager to hear Paul’s teachings even though they had heard negative information about Christianity.

They set a date and when that date arrived many came to hear Paul preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of God which to us seems so simple but for Paul was the basis of why he was in Rome, as a prisoner awaiting trial. When that date came, it was an all-day event from morning to evening with nothing held back. When those who came heard the message of Paul, some believed, and others did not. Before the people left, Paul reflected on the day with the words of Isaiah who wrote that even though the people would hear, they wouldn’t understand, and seeing they wouldn’t perceive. Paul continued to be under house arrest for two more years and received all who came to him, preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom of God and about Jesus Christ with all confidence.

Acts 28:16-31
And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him. And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans. Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me. But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of. For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain. And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee. But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that everywhere it is spoken against. And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening. And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not. And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers, Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it. And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves. And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

Thousands of years before, Joshua found himself as the person who would succeed Moses, and God reminded Joshua of the promise previously shared with Moses of all the land that would be part of the nation of Israel. He encouraged Joshua reminding him that no person would be able to challenge him, and then told Joshua to be strong and very courageous to do according to all the law, because God would be with Joshua wherever he went.

Joshua 1:1-9
Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying, Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast. There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Paul did not back down in preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of God, nor did he give up in teaching about Jesus Christ all while under house arrest in Rome. Joshua was told to be strong and very courageous to observe to do according to all the law. Both Joshua and Paul acted with boldness, and confidence. They were strong and very courageous even though the circumstances of their situation could have easily given them the reason to take another course of action. Neither of the two tempted God in what they did, but they did not also live in fear.

Today there are many reasons why we might live in fear. Times might be worse now for us then they ever have been. We might see crime increasing where we live. We might not have all the money we would like to have to buy food and household supplies. The weather where you live may be making life a challenge and there might be a sense of being closer to war than peace, but living in fear is something we should not do. Peter tells us of the need to be sober and vigilant because Satan, our adversary seeks whom he may devour. Peter didn’t tell us to live in fear over this spiritual reality but rather to be sober and vigilant, which is excellent advice for responding to the realities of our current life. Peter reminds us of the need to resist Satan steadfast in the faith, and it is through faith we resist and overcome all the challenges of life that would be so easy to succumb to in fear.

1 Peter 5:8-11
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

If it is not Satan who directly attacks us, Satan will have others attack us by proxy, and it will get so bad that it will make no matter where the people of God find themselves because the people of God will be hated everywhere. Even when we are hated everywhere, even when we are betrayed, even in the face of false prophets and a world without love that is living the result of sin, we must endure to the end. Times will get so bad, they will be worse than they ever have been, and unless God intervenes all human life on this planet would cease to exist.

Matthew 24:9-22
Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, whoso readeth, let him understand: Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

We know that Satan seeks whom he may devour and even goes to the length to attack us by proxy. We know he will be cast to the earth and will make war with the church, and the church will be protected in her place for three and a half years, and that the earth will help the church by opening her mouth to swallow the flood, sounding like a huge sink hole that diverts water away from the church. The church is identified as keeping the commandments of God and having the testimony of Jesus Christ, meaning we do not live in fear knowing we must endure to the end.

Revelation 12:13-17
And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Zechariah records a vision similar to what is seen in the Book of Revelation with a candlestick of gold, a bowl, and seven lamps with two olive trees on either side of the bowl. God told Zechariah these symbols did not represent might nor did these represent power, but they do represent the Holy Spirit. Because we have the Holy Spirit, we do not live by might or power and live instead by the Holy Spirit, and we live without fear.

Zechariah 4:1-6
And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep, And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof: And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof. So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord? Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord. Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.

We live our lives with a certain boldness and confidence that comes through faith. Because of faith, we look beyond this physical life to the Kingdom of God and eternal life. Any difficulties in this life do not give us reason to give up on the faith we have.

Ephesians 3:8-13
Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him. Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.

Paul understood the things that happened to him, both good and bad, helped in spreading the gospel, even when he was imprisoned. He knew that because he was enduring hardship it gave other brethren confidence to share the gospel without fear. He also understood how people would use his current circumstances. Some used his situation in a basis of love knowing Paul had preached the gospel and others used his situation for personal gain. Paul knew that God could use any situation he was facing to help bring Paul to salvation.

He knew not be ashamed of the gospel but to live his life with boldness so that Jesus Christ could be magnified in his body. Even though it would have been preferable for Paul to simply die, he knew that by continuing to live Christ would continue to be magnified in his body. He also knew the brethren would benefit by his continued human life. He reminded them of the need to have their conversations reflect the gospel of Jesus Christ and to never be terrified of adversaries, knowing that all who are of Christ are on the right side of the spiritual battle that is before us, and given that we are in a spiritual battle it should be no surprise when we have difficulties in this life.

Philippians 1:12-30
But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel; So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places; And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you. And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith; That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again. Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God. For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.

The hope that we have is a great hope, the hope of eternal life. It is not a small hope. It is a hope worthy of great glory, and knowing the hope that we have is huge, we can’t hide that hope that we have and are able to share that hope with others using plain simple language, showing we have no fear.

2 Corinthians 3:7-12
But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:

When God gave us the Holy Spirit, He did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. We have nothing to fear and nothing to be ashamed of, even if we find ourselves suffering or wronged because of the faith we have. That faith that we have isn’t about anything we have done but is all about Jesus Christ who lived, died, and was resurrected so we can have eternal life.

2 Timothy 1:6-10
Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

That boldness of faith that gives us reason to live without fear also gives us the ability to boldly approach the throne of grace so that we can obtain mercy and grace in time of need. With God we have nothing to fear. Even when we fall short we can obtain mercy and find grace.

Hebrews 4:11-16
Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Knowing we live a life worthy of one who is called, doing all we can so that God and Jesus Christ are magnified by how we live, we do not fear what people can do to us and instead reflect that we have God and Jesus Christ as our helper, and with that help supporting us, nobody will ever get the upper hand on us.

Hebrews 13:1-6
Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Living without fear requires us to live a life grounded in love because perfect love casts out fear. That perfect love even will give us boldness in the day of judgment because we will be living our lives as Jesus would expect.

1 John 4:12-19
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us.

David lived his life without fear of people because he knew God was his strength, light, and salvation. He knew when evil people would plot against him, they would come to nothing.

Psalm 27:1-3
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

David knew that when he was weak, God would strengthen him.

Psalm 138:1-3
I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee. I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul

Proverbs tells us that having strong confidence with God begins through the fear of God, having an incredible and reverent awe of God. The fear of God is like a fountain of life and keeps us from the snares of death.

Proverbs 14:26-27
In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

The righteous are described to be as bold as a lion. Very few will confront a lion, and even fewer will succeed. Conversely, a wicked person flees when no person pursues. We should be living our lives as bold as a lion.

Proverbs 28:1
The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

Having this boldness and confidence that causes us to live our life without fear should lead us to a simple conclusion of keeping the faith. There is never a reason to not keep the faith. We are to be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might which comes through the Holy Spirit. We are to put on the whole armor of God to withstand the trickeries of Satan knowing the situations we face in life whatever these may be, have a spiritual foundation, knowing that we wrestle against spiritual wickedness in high places. To fight the spiritual battles that encircle us, we spiritually equip ourselves so that through the Holy Spirit victory is won.

Ephesians 6:10-17
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Like Timothy was reminded by Paul, we are to follow those things which are spiritual, righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness. Like Timothy, we are to fight the good fight of faith and take hold of eternal life. We are to live our lives so that when Jesus Christ returns there will be no question of our character.

1 Timothy 6:11-16
But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

In the end, we will reap whatever we sow. If we sow a spiritual life that is rooted in fear, that fear will overtake whatever is spiritual in our life. If we sow a spiritual life rooted in confidence towards God and Jesus Christ because we are doing what is expected of us, we will reap much. We can never grow weary in doing well, and it can be so easy to grow weary. It is when we grow weary that we are spiritually weak, that we faint, as if fear has overtaken us. We cannot allow fear to overtake us even in doing well, and let us do good to all people, especially those who are of the household of faith.

Galatians 6:1-10
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden. Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

We can live a life without fear knowing there is no condemnation for all who are in Jesus Christ who have and walk after the Holy Spirit. Having the Holy Spirit, we will be focused on those things which are spiritual not those things which are physical. Because we are led by the Holy Spirit, we have not received the Holy Spirit to fear but have received the Holy Spirit to be the children of God. As children of God, we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ knowing we will suffer with Him, knowing we will be glorified together.

Romans 8:1-17
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Wherever people live, whatever people see, and whatever people feel makes a huge part of their life. Looking around and seeing things that gives them reason to have doubt or sensing that even though things on the surface seem alright something is deeply wrong can cause many people to sense a broad sense of emotions, and for some, the emotion that is experienced is something akin to fear. Having God’s Holy Spirit, we are not called to a life of fear, but a life of confidence and spiritual boldness knowing that with God we have nothing to fear.
