Proverbs About the Heart
August 30, 2014

Last week we read proverbs about the wicked. Those who are wicked have no good purpose of heart and today we will look at proverbs about the heart from Proverbs 21. These verses give us insight to the heart from a Biblical perspective.

Proverbs 21:1
The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

Those who are led by God can be assured that God is able to lead the hearts of those in authority to serve the will of God. Being in charge is nothing without first surrendering to God.

Proverbs 21:2
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.

It is normal to think that one's own actions are correct. Only God really knows intentions. If our intentions are pure, than God will consider us as pure and if our intentions are evil, God will consider us as evil.

Proverbs 21:4
An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.

The heart that is allowed to be proud will soon find itself in sin. Those who are proud cannot humble themselves before God and as a result they can do nothing to be pleasing to God.

Reading through proverbs is a great way to learn about some elements of the heart from a Biblical perspective, and today, we have briefly considered only three from only one chapter.

All verses are from the King James Version.
