Proverbs About the Wicked
August 23, 2014

Last week we read about how Jesus helps us flee evil. Evil and wicked go hand in hand, and today we will look at proverbs about the wicked from Proverbs 15. These verses show the results of choosing to live a wicked lifestyle.

Proverbs 15:6
In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

Those who pursue righteousness are blessed in many different ways; perhaps the greatest blessing is gratitude for all that is around them. It is easy to overlook the service of others, efforts of children to please, or even a barking family dog that is trying to protect. The wicked value nothing but themself and because they see no value in anything, all that remains is without value and troubling.

Proverbs 15:9
The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.

There is nothing about the wicked that is pleasing to God. Only those who pursue righteousness are able to please God.

Proverbs 15:29
The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

Because there is nothing about the wicked that is pleasing to God, God chooses not to be in company with them. Those who pursue righteousness not only please God, they are in a position to have their prayers heard by God.

Reading through proverbs is a great way to learn about some elements of wickedness from a Biblical perspective, and today, we have briefly considered only three from only one chapter.

All verses are from the King James Version.
