The Prophecy of Wars
September 21, 2019

Recently we began looking at the lesser known prophecies of the end time and saw disobedience of the younger generation as a prophesied event. Last week we saw deception was prophesied. Wars and rumors of war were also prophesied, and Jesus made it clear that these wars and rumors of war might seem like the end is immediate, but in fact the end will still be in the future. These are the beginning of sorrows.

Matthew 24:3-8
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.

For your consideration with the study from last week on the deception is a passage from Matthew. Many say Jesus came to establish peace, but what did Jesus say? Jesus said His teaching of faith would lead to confrontation and violence, and that those who would seek to save their life by avoiding this type of conflict would lose their life. Those who live their life aligned to Jesus will live a life at odds with how this world sees the natural order of things. All confrontation is war on the tiniest of scale.

Matthew 10:34-39
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

As we fight the spiritual battle for our stake of eternal life in the Kingdom of God as the end time approaches, we should remember the words of God given to the children Israel. If indeed we are God's begotten children having His Holy Spirit, we are then to fight our spiritual battles with the knowledge that God is with us, that God will fight for us, and save us from our enemies.

Deuteronomy 20:1-4
When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots, and a people more than thou, be not afraid of them: for the LORD thy God is with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And it shall be, when ye are come nigh unto the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people, And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them; For the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you

Jesus taught us to know that in this end time we would hear of wars and rumors of wars. Returning to the big picture of prophecy, in the end God, Jesus, and the faithful win. Between now and then is this prophecy of wars.
